things you never wanted to know about...so you thought...

unexpected surprises

Only because my wonderful supervisor let me leave early today is this blog being created.  If I had worked the whole day my eyes would have been closed before I even walked into my apartment door.  For those who do not know I am spending 3 days a week at Duke Hospital for my graduate school internship.  The other two days I am in Greenville for classes and the rest of my time is spent in a car driving to all these places with a few stops in Wilson and Raleigh.

Today we had our social work intern breakfast/orientation and it was really good.  I enjoyed getting to meet other interns (I am the only from ECU) and listening to the supervisors speak.  Everything at Duke is impressive (get over it Carolina fans) and the way they treat their interns is even more impressive.  Just the campus by itself is impressive.  The opportunities I am going to have at Duke are going to be plentiful and probably some will be once in a lifetime opportunities.  I hope I take advantage of them, and I feel like I will.  If not, someone slap me later.

I have already been at Duke for two weeks and for most of the interns they were just coming in today.  My supervisor, Bill who also happens to be the supervisor over the supervisors who have interns, was spending time with the two other interns he will have today to get to know them better.  Since I've already had two weeks of one on one time with him, he told me I could leave.  I can't tell you the last time I've ever been that excited on the inside but still trying to contain my excitement on the outside.  Completely not expecting to hear that, but it was exactly what I needed to hear.

My internship exhaust me, the amount of reading and school work that has to be completed is whatever word is worse than exhaustion.  Therefore my supervisor allowing me to leave has given me an afternoon to allow me to get this work done.  I am going to go do that now....I'm sure you'll hear more about this internship as the year progresses.

Happy Wednesday to you!
